The WEEE Directive was introduced on 13th August 2005; the principles of this directive:

• to improve the environmental performance of all operators
• to prevent waste of electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)
• to promote the reuse, recycling and recovery of EEE ( Electronic and Electrical Equipment)

Identify products:

If the symbol below is shown on your goods then it is classed as EEE and should not be disposed of with your household waste

Please do not put these items in your domestic bin.



Recycle Options for Consumers from private households

• You can contact your local authority who may offer a free collection service for unwanted goods
• Take your products to your local civic amenity centre

Misco will take back WEEE on a one for one equivalent basis. ie you purchase a DVD player from Misco you can return your old DVD player to Misco
Proof of purchase from Misco will be required; please include the Misco Sales order reference with your return.

Cost of Recycling

vEMC (Visible environmental management costs) have been introduced under the directive and these are used by the compliance schemes; to recycle and dispose of safely all the items that are covered by the directive. These are also known as Producer recycling fund contributions or PRFC

The costs were agreed by the WEEE Register Society Limited in consultation with the electronics and electrical industry and they cover items such as, fridges, washing machines, to MP3 players and radios. The costs may vary at any time as more information becomes available. All the contributions are assigned to recycling activity and not diverted anywhere else.

Products that are sold on this website that have a vEMC will show three prices,

• The full retail price inclusive of PRF and VAT
• The Producer Recycling Fund Contribution
• The Retail price inclusive of VAT
